‘The Forum’ is a simple covered meeting area adjacent the heritage registered St Joseph’s Cathedral. The award winning project is simple in it’s form as to not contest with the cathedral adjacent. The aim of the design was to create a large covered area with minimal visual impact on the elegance of the Gothic inspired, sandstone Cathedral.
The Covered Meeting Area provides an overflow congregation space for the Cathedral. The structure provides a complimentary link between the Parish Centre and the Cathedral
An extensive and highly participated Master planning process identified the strong need for an identifiable entrance statement to the approx. 1500 student Catholic College. The angled wall of the staff room is a strongly coloured statement of the School Houses. Reflecting the strong recognition by the College of the students as the centre of the College.
The Loyola Centre is designed as 3 spaces in one. A quiet Chapel for 80 opening to a teaching space for 150, to a lecture style theatre accommodating up to 350.
Acoustics and significant public art works enhance the ambience of the spaces.
